PRESS SURVEY - ANCELOTTI: 'A good test'
8/12/2005
MILAN - La Gazzetta dello Sport interviewed Carlo Ancelotti after the
win at Lugano: 'It was a good test, well played after a cycle of
training. The team were a bit tired but that's normal have working a
lot. In any case, Milan have great offensive quality and we have to
take advantage of that.'
ANCELOTTI: 'Not important who scores'
8/12/2005
MILAN - Ancelotti then spoke to Corriere dello Sport- Stadio: 'I have
to admit that I was impressed with Cafu once again. I liked the
attacking moves. We have shown we have various and effective
solutions. Shevchenko obviously has to get to know his new team-mates.
It's equally true that Gilardino and Vieri have to find the right
tuning with him, so it not important who scores.'
ANCELOTTI: 'We'll refind our brilliance'
8/12/2005
MILAN - Ancelotti had a quick word with Tuttosport: 'The errors
committed at Lugano can be put down to tiredness. We'll refind our
brilliance in the next game.'
MILAN-SAMPDORIA: AUGUST 21 AT SAN SIRO
8/12/2005
MILAN - The Seat-Pagine Gialle Trophy against Sampdoria will now be
played at the San Siro on August 21 at 8.30pm CET, with tickets going
on sale on August 16 at Milan Point, the Intesa Bank and authorised
outlets.
MORNING TRAINING
8/12/2005
MILANELLO - The squad went through a warm-down session in the gym this
morning after yesterday's friendly at Lugano. The full squad will be
back training on Saturday at 4.30pm CET ahead of the Luigi Berlusconi
trophy against Juventus on Sunday.
BOBO VIERI: 'Great occasion Milan-Juve'
8/12/2005
MILANELLO - Bobo Vieri spoke briefly to the press at Milanello and
said: 'Milan-Juventus, the Luigi Berlusconi Trophy, is a great
occasion that no one will want to miss. Everyone wants to play, me
included.'
ZELJKO KALAC JOINS MILAN
8/12/2005
MILAN - A.C.Milan have announced that after completing a medical,
goalkeeper Zeljko Kalac has signed a contract until June 30, 2008.
BORN ON DECEMBER 16
8/12/2005
MILAN - Zeljko Kalac was born on the same day that Milan was formed:
December 16. Born in 1972 in Sydney, the Australian goalkeeper is
2m2cms tall and weighs 95kg.

Kalac played for Sydney United between 1994 and 1996, then two years
at Leicester City before moving to Roda in Holland in 1998 where he
played until 2002. He came up against Milan in the UEFA Cup, with Josè
Mari scoring in a 1-0 win while in the second leg he made a save in
the penalty shoot-out although the San Siro side went on to win. Kalac
moved to Perugia the following season, playing 79 league games and
four in the UEFA Cup.

During that time, Kalac had three incidents against Milan: Paolo
Maldini's header in September 2002, his great saves in January 2003
after Miccoli had given Perugia the lead and his collision with Pippo
Inzaghi on September 21, 2003 in a 1-1 draw.
MAREK SETTLES IN
8/12/2005 3:06:00 PM
Marek Jankulovski is adapting to life at Milan as witnessed by the
fact that he is doing the same training as Cafu who in this pre-season
period is already in top form. After nearly five months out following
an ankle operation, the left-sided player made a goal-scoring debut
for the Rossoneri on Thursday. Speaking at the Friday afternoon press
conference, Marek said: 'I have settled in well and that's down to my
team-mates. They have received me well and have passed on the
confidence and serenity in every training session. As for yesterday
evening, coach Ancelotti didn't say anything special to me, I was part
of a back four, pushing forward when needed. On the three-man defence
he said: 'It will take time to learn this system even if there are top
players here at Milan. It's the same for them as they have always
played with four at the back.' Looking ahead to the Juventus game on
Sunday and a possible meeting with fellow Czech Pavel Nedved, he
added: I will be pleased to come up against my friend Pavel, then I
would also like to send my congratulations to Udinese for their win in
Lisbon. We went through a whole year together for that target and now
it's happened. I hope the return leg goes well for them.'
BETTER THAN HOPED
8/12/2005 2:46:00 PM
MILANELLO - When Marek was injured, Milan had their minds on other
things. The league title race was wide open and the Champions League
final against Liverpool in Istanbul was just around the corner. The
Czech international was not yet officially a Milan player when he
picked up the ankle injury in Udinese-Roma. However, after the move
became official, the rehabilitation following the operation came down
to the staff at Milanello as Jankulovski got off the crutches and on
to the training pitch to start his road to recovery.

The hard work put in over the last three months have definitely paid
dividends, with the left-sided player scoring on his debut, in the 7-0
win at Lugano. Jankulovski said: 'At the start I was a bit worried
about my injury then I saw things were going well and I knew that I
was better than it was hoped. Of course, I am pleased as last night
was my first real game after my operation, it went well.'

Speaking about the game, he added: 'I expected a difficult debut. It's
great to play with these top players and it was great to score. What's
my preferred role? I would say wide on the left of midfield. I can be
the fourth or fifth left-sided midfielder but I can also play at the
back if the coach wants. We'll see how it goes. Now all I have to
think about is getting used to playing alongside my new team-mates and
become part of this new Milan.'

On the three-man defence, Jankulovski said: 'When you are on the pitch
this system becomes important in terms of how the midfield functions,
above all, the wide midfielders. These are the two players who have to
attack and defend, they balance the side, with their movement and
workload. What about me on the right? The coach has said this and if
he decided on it then I will accept that role.'
